YOU'RE ALIVE IN ME

Is there a word that can
describe what I feel?
Is there a word that can
describe your endless zeal?

You took care of me,
Like no one did.
Its amazing how you knew,
about everything I need.

Your arms cuddled me,
whenever I fall.
Your heart heard my voice,
from a distance whenever I call.

Every morning hand in hand,
You walked me to the school.
With you, I shared my secrets,
You are my mother, so cool.

Made me food, so delicious.
Helped me with my homework.
Protected me in every way,
whenever dangers lurked.

Sometimes you were my best friend,
Sometimes my sworn enemy.
How stupid I was to fight with you
on situations, I couldn't see.

My life came crashing down,
When you passed away.
Couldn't understand how you could,
Like that, just walk away

For me, life was different then,
Dark and full of struggle.
I longed for your warm hug
in which, I could once again snuggle.

But in many strange ways,
You made me feel.
that you were not gone,
Still there with me, in real.

In good and bad times,
In every decision I make,
In loneliness and celebrations,
And in every step that I take.

Like a guiding force,
from the sky above, so blue.
You're alive in me, in every heartbeat
Because I'm a part of you.

NOTE: This poem is dedicated to my mother Tehmi Bamboat (1944 - 1995).
